Laurel Aitken – 1998 Community Achievement Awards

Laurel Aitken known as “Godfather of Ska” music was an influential Caribbean singer, pioneer of Jamaican Ska music and Reggae music. He lived in Leicester and performed across the UK and Jamaica.

This video is original footage of a speech Laurel prepared when he could not attend the 1998 Community Achievement Awards which were part of Black History Month events.
