The Seventh Annual Community Achievers Awards Show

This prestigious event recognises the contributions of 12 Black people from the community, who have enriched the lives of others through their work within the city of Leicester. Price includes three course meal of African Caribbean cuisine and entertainment by local performers.



As part of Leicester Africa Season and in collaboration with Black History Season, the Leicester and Leicestershire MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY coalition are co-ordinating a number of events of African culture, music, dance and new beginnings. These include:

Life Interrupted 12 November – 1 December


The Guildhall

Life Interrupted is Don McCullin’s second exhibition on HIV/AIDS in Africa in association with Christian Aid. It looks at the impact anti-retroviral treatment (ART) has made on the lives of the people living with HIV in Zambia and South Africa. These new photographs are intensely personal and display McCullin understandings of the complexity of life in Africa.
