BHM in 2016 recognised the life and work of South African Social Rights activist Desmond Tutu on his 85th Birthday and marks 40 years since the seminal publication The Arts the Britain Ignores by Naseem Kahn. Policy, practice and social justice BHM’s theme for 2016 events. Serendipity presented the launch of BHM 2016 with Soweto Kinch an award winning alto-saxophonist and his new album Nonagram. A journey through the hidden world of abstraction, Nonagram draws inspiration from the incorporeal ideas of mathematics, through shifting time signatures, harmony and tonality that explores how music gives form to ideas that cannot be seen in the natural world. Soweto Kinch is a tour de force of the contemporary British jazz and hip-hop scenes.
